Samsung Supply Chip for New iPhone

Although the patent war between Apple and Samsung are still ongoing in several countries, but Samsung is expected to supply chips to Apple A6 for the latest generation iPhone and the iPad.

"Apple is currently negotiating with Samsung for delivery A6 quad-core mobile processor (AP) chip that will be used to develop the next iPhone," said a statement from the Korea Times. "It seems clear that Apple has concluded that Samsung continues to be an important business partner for them," added the statement, as quoted by TG Daily, Tuesday (10/18/2011).

Samsung has recently also increase the output to Apple by designing a sophisticated processor A6 in Austin, Texas, United States. "Samsung will apply advanced 28-nanometer chip, which uses processing technology to produce quality phones," continued the statement.

Although TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company) will provide a customized chip design from Apple, but its volume will be very small.

"The manufacturing process at TSMC is not stable yet. Looking at the previous pattern, Apple has always adopted a quality technology and never take risks. Samsung offers better prices and are committed to the capacity of the AP on the A6 cell phone," concluded the statement.

Although the Cupertino has not confirmed the launch date of the latest devices, both iPad 3 and iPhone 5 are expected to debut in the first quarter of 2012.
